Purpose: Moore College is seeking a dynamic addition to its fundraising team who will support the operations of a quick-paced and ambitious advancement office. Using Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge, the Development Manager will be Moore’s Database Administrator and will improve gift processing and acknowledgment; assist with the creation of reports, queries and data files; ensure that development staff is trained in the proper use of the database; develop and implement policies to guide data entry; and ensure that the database effectively captures alumni and donor information in order to generate accurate financial and analytical reports. The Development Manager will also assist staff with prospect research and implementing the College’s annual stewardship program.

Requirements:

  • Familiarity with donor databases and reporting systems, particularly Raiser’s Edge or similar products;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access and Outlook);
  • Experience in prospect research and tracking – knowledge of moves management and prospect management processes and protocols;
  • Experience submitting grant requests and reports to foundations and other grantors;
  • Ability to work within deadlines with a demonstrated capacity for project management and process improvement;
  • Quality focus and attention to detail;
  • Collaborating across teams and clear judgement amidst multiple and/or shifting priorities to ensure goals are met in a timely manner;
  • Polished communication skills, both orally and written;
  • Maintains a high sense of professionalism and recognizes the importance of discretion and confidentiality;
  • Can perform well under pressure, exercising sound judgment and treating both internal and external stakeholders with respect.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working in higher education development or similar environment;
  • Interest in the arts and arts education and an eagerness to deepen knowledge of arts funding, advancement services and education philanthropy;
  • Event planning experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Uses Raiser’s Edge knowledge to improve the functionality of the database and data integrity through database clean-up projects and familiarity with ongoing upgrades to Raiser’s Edge NXT. Proposes and implements systematic changes, policy and best practices for using the database;
  • Reaches out to offices across the college such as the Business Office, Admissions, Marketing and Communications, Career Center and Student Affairs to partner across teams with the goal of improving data entry/gift processing and, therefore, fundraising outcomes;
  • Responsible for the oversight of staff training on Raiser’s Edge and Raiser’s Edge NXT;
  • Researches and updates biographical/contact information to improve data integrity. Prepares mailing lists and giving reports as needed;
  • Manages, implements and coordinates all aspects of prospect management, including the optimization of Raiser’s Edge to ensure efficient processes and best practices in tracking, measuring and reporting prospect activity;
  • Through proactive research, identifies new major gift prospects for key funding priorities as well as recommend prospect ratings;
  • Manage gift officer portfolios and pipelines and prepare recommendations for cultivation/stewardship activities to increase giving;
  • Prepare clear, well-polished briefing materials for the President, VP for Advancement, Director and Associate Directors and key volunteers in a timely manner;
  • Collaborates with VP for Advancement and other appropriate units to create annual stewardship reports – including but limited to Moore’s annual Philanthropy Impact Report, foundation grantors, etc.;
  • Collaborates with VP for Advancement to plan and organize annual scholarship celebration and other stewardship events on campus;
  • Serves as the advancement liaison for Moore students, helping to engage students in not only acknowledging donors but also with the advancement office more broadly (i.e. student philanthropy council, digital appeals, ConnectMoore);
  • Writes, as necessary, articles and updates for Moore’s blog and other social media outlets;
  • Collaborates with Associate Director of Development to coordinate and manage Moore’s annual fund appeals, including managing one annual digital appeal and providing lists and reports as necessary;
  • Collaborates with Associate Director of Development to coordinate the planning and implementation of Moore’s major annual gala, the Visionary Woman Awards, as well as Moore’s annual Fashion Show, Senior Show and smaller events, including committee meetings and donor receptions;
  • Responds efficiently to calls from donors, alumni, volunteers and staff in a professional and friendly manner;
  • Organizes and maintains development records, files and other materials;
  • Other duties as assigned.
