About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Fire Installation and Commissioning Engineer to join our team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, testing, commissioning, servicing support, and handover of fire protection systems, ensuring all work is completed to the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Install fire alarm, detection, emergency lighting, and associated fire protection systems in commercial, industrial, and residential properties.
- Carry out commissioning, testing, fault-finding, and system handover in line with relevant British Standards and company procedures.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and wiring diagrams.
- Ensure all installations comply with current regulations, industry standards, and client requirements.
- Complete all relevant documentation, including commissioning certificates, test records, and service reports.
- Liaise professionally with clients, site managers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Diagnose and resolve on-site technical issues efficiently.
- Support project completion within agreed deadlines and budgets.
- Maintain high standards of health and safety at all times.
- Provide technical advice and guidance to customers on the operation of installed systems
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in the installation and commissioning of fire alarm systems and related fire protection systems.
- Good working knowledge of relevant standards, including BS 5839, BS 5266, and other applicable fire safety regulations.
- Ability to fault-find and troubleshoot system issues independently.
- Experience working with a range of fire alarm panels and equipment manufacturers.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems and site-based installation practices.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- ECS/CSCS card preferred.
- FIA training or other relevant fire industry qualifications desirable.
- Familiarity with commissioning integrated fire and life safety systems.
- Experience working on construction and refurbishment projects.
- Full UK driving licence.
