An exceptional opportunity

Bryden Wood is a leading international company of creative engineers, architects, designers, and analysts.

We’re shaping the future of construction by bringing integrated expertise, innovation, deep experience, open minds and creativity to unravel the most complex problems and create exceptional, sustainable design solutions – all for a better built environment.

We are leaders in the theory and practice of Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), the Platform approach to Design for Manufacture and Assembly (P-Df MA), generative design, creative technologies, integrated design and automation in construction.

As a civil engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to work in a cutting-edge and dynamic design environment, collaborating with – and learning from – the multiple disciplines across the company.

Our projects range from data centres to hospitals to carbon-neutral buildings.

About the role

You will work in our London office in the Civil engineering department on a variety of projects across a range of industries.

You’ll be given real responsibility from day one, contributing to designs through modelling, analysis and report writing.

You will also have the opportunity to visit live sites and participate in meetings with design teams and clients across your projects.

We’re committed to helping our engineers thrive, offering guidance, mentorship, ICE support and hands‑on experience.

We are an integrated company so you’ll work closely with other disciplines as part of a team that’s driving efficiency and innovation throughout the construction industry.

About you

  • Well organised, careful, and solutions-based approach to solving design problems.
  • Real enthusiasm for engineering design and keen to work in a challenging design environment on both the civil and structural elements of projects.
  • Strong analytical reasoning, critical thinking, and creativity in developing efficient engineering solutions.
  • Great interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Willingness to learn modelling software, including Auto CAD, Civil 3D, and Revit.
  • Interest in emerging technologies and innovations in the construction industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point).
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.

Experience and education

  • Have a professionally accredited Civil Engineering degree with a minimum of an upper-second class with honours from a recognised institution (Master’s preferred but not essential).
  • Interest in areas of drainage, flooding, SUDS, utilities, earthworks, roads and holistic design coordination.

Benefits include

  • 9-Day Fortnight (not compressed hours - we give one genuinely free day every fortnight with no change to salary).
  • Industry competitive salary.
  • Hybrid working from home and the office.
  • Paid professional membership.
  • ICE accredited Training and Development Scheme and dedicated mentor for chartership aspirations.
  • Private Healthcare scheme funded by Bryden Wood (tax is payable).
  • Regular reviews to help with your career progression.
  • Pension scheme (matched contribution up to 5%).
