Are you an experienced Health and Safety professional ready to influence strategy and strengthen safety culture? Our client, a FTSE 250 Real Estate business, is seeking a proactive and confident Head of Health & Safety to deliver both strategic direction and operational support across a varied commercial property portfolio. Working closely with senior leaders, operational teams, and key suppliers, you will drive high standards, promote a positive safety culture, and ensure robust, compliant practices throughout the organisation.
As Head of Health and Safety, you will:
- Lead Health and Safety strategy and ensure full compliance with legislation and industry best practice.
- Advise the Board, Executive Committee, and senior management on emerging risks and regulatory obligations.
- Maintain and continuously improve the Health and Safety management system.
- Oversee risk assessments, statutory compliance, incident reporting, and internal audits.
- Lead Fire Risk Management and ensure timely completion of required actions.
- Support managers in embedding safe systems of work across all sites.
- Conduct site inspections, monitor redevelopment activities, and advise on project proposals.
- Train, coach, and develop employees to strengthen organisational competence.
You’ll be a highly visible presence in the business, spending much of your time out on-site across central London. Regular visits to properties and close collaboration with Facilities Managers will be key to building strong, productive working relationships.
You will bring:
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
- CertIOSH or CMIOSH status
- Strong knowledge of building, workplace, fire safety, and asbestos regulations.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills.
- Confidence, resilience, and the ability to influence at all levels.
- A hands-on, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to make decisive judgments.
This is a full-time permanent role, working 37½ hours per week Monday to Friday 09:00 – 17:30 with 1 hour for lunch and the potential to work remotely one day per week. The job is available to start as soon as possible upon appointment. The notice period is 1 week during probation, rising to 1 month thereafter and is paid on a monthly, salaried basis. Salary offered will be dependent on experience. You will be entitled to 25 days holiday + your birthday off work + bank holidays + pension (3/6) rising to (5/10) after 1 year + 4x DiS + personal accident scheme + income protection + private medical + benefits. You will be based at N1 head office with travel across London.
