An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an experienced Health & Safety leader to join one of the UK’s most prestigious and complex operational environments. This senior leadership role will be responsible for leading a multi-disciplinary operational safety function across a large and diverse estate, supporting a wide range of operational, facilities management, maintenance and project activities. The successful candidate will lead a team of Health & Safety professionals and subject matter experts, driving a proactive and consistent approach to operational safety, continuous improvement and positive safety culture across the organisation. This is a highly visible position requiring strong stakeholder engagement, operational credibility and the ability to influence at senior level within a complex and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a high-performing operational Health & Safety team across multiple disciplines
- Provide expert operational H&S support across corporate, maintenance and construction-related activities
- Drive consistency and best practice across safety processes, systems and procedures
- Develop proactive monitoring programmes including inspections, audits and assurance activities
- Produce performance reports, dashboards and trend analysis for senior leadership teams
- Lead investigations into incidents, accidents and near misses, including root cause analysis
- Support wider cultural and transformational safety initiatives across the organisation
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across operational and senior leadership teams
- Promote continual improvement and a positive, collaborative safety culture
Candidate Requirements
- NEBOSH Diploma, NVQ Level 5/6 or degree in a Health & Safety related discipline
- Membership of IOSH, IIRSM or equivalent professional body
- Significant experience leading operational Health & Safety functions within large, complex organisations
- Experience managing and developing teams of Health & Safety professionals
- Strong understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation, standards and best practice
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to influence, challenge and engage effectively at all organisational levels
- Construction and/or facilities management experience would be advantageous
