Our client is seeking an experienced Fire Safety Advisor to join its Central Safety Fire Safety team, reporting directly to the Head of Fire Safety. This is a high-impact role within a world-leading university, offering the opportunity to influence fire safety standards across complex academic, research, residential and healthcare-linked environments.

Work across a diverse and technically challenging estate including laboratories, halls of residence, teaching spaces and major capital projects. This is a strategic and hands-on role with real influence on fire safety culture and compliance.

Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering and reviewing fire risk assessments
  • Undertaking audits and inspections
  • Supporting emergency planning and fire drills
  • Advising on events and construction projects
  • Investigating fire incidents and alarms
  • Facilitating inspections by fire authorities
  • Contributing to bespoke fire safety training

The role involves extensive collaboration with internal teams and external partners such as the Fire & Rescue Service, building control and contractors.

Essential candidate profile:

  • NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate with experience of operational fire safety management and undertaking FRAs in complex buildings
  • Strong knowledge of UK fire safety legislation and PAS 79
  • Experience with passive and active fire protection systems
  • Proven ability in audits, inspections, incident investigations and training delivery
  • Confident communicator able to influence at all levels

This role suits a proactive fire safety professional looking to make a meaningful impact within a prestigious institution.

This is a full-time permanent role, working 08:00-16:00 or 09:00-17:00 (rota) Monday to Friday, and is available to start as soon as possible upon appointment. The notice period is 1 week during probation, rising to 1 month thereafter and is paid on a monthly, salaried basis. Salary offered will be dependent on experience. You will be entitled to 25 days holiday + 7 shutdown days + bank holidays + USS pension.
