What's the role? To drive profitable growth across Independent Distribution Network Operators (IDNOs), Independent Connection Providers (ICPs), utility EPC contractors and major power infrastructure projects by securing transformer and MV/HV switchgear opportunities. The role will position the business as a trusted power infrastructure partner, delivering technically robust, commercially competitive and programme-aligned solutions that support the UK's evolving electricity network and energy transition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a structured sales strategy across:
    • Independent Distribution Network Operators (IDNOs)
    • Independent Connection Providers (ICPs)
    • Utility EPC contractors
    • Renewable developers and grid connection specialists
  • Identify and qualify pipeline opportunities across early-stage project development.
  • Map key decision-makers across developers, consultants, project managers, and principal contractors.
  • Influence specifications at pre-tender and design stages.
  • Secure new orders:
    • Power transformers (distribution, grid connection, renewables integration)
    • MV & HV switchgear (AIS, GIS, packaged substations)
  • Translate client requirements (resilience, redundancy, decarbonisation, compliance) into competitive commercial proposals.

What are we looking for:

Qualifications:

  • Minimum HNC (or equivalent)
  • Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering - desirable

Skills / Knowledge:

  • Sales experience in the energy management sector, preferably in the Critical Infrastructure & Renewables sector
  • Strong account planning, customer management, and solution‑selling skills
  • Pre‑sales experience and ability to shape sales strategy in complex environments
  • Solid RFQ preparation and response experience
  • Technical and commercial negotiation experience (including pricing and T&Cs)
  • Knowledge of switchgear, transformers, and related equipment
  • Understanding of power transmission/distribution design and network architecture
  • Confident delivering technical/commercial presentations and workshops
  • Knowledge of DNO/IDNO requirements and regulations

Experience:

  • A minimum of five years of relevant sales, commercial or technical experience in direct customer facing roles
  • Working knowledge of the energy management landscape
  • Field Sales, Field Engineering or Engineering experience - desirable
