    • Drive continuous improvement in engineering efficiency, productivity, quality, innovation, and safety culture.
  • Engineering Governance & Technical Authority
    • Establish, maintain, and approve engineering standards, specifications, and best practices.
    • Ensure all HV designs activities comply with: Electricity Safety, Quality and Continuity Regulations (ESQCR), CDM Regulations, IEC, BS, EN, and G81 standards (where applicable), DNO / IDNO / National Grid technical requirements.
    • Chair technical review panels for high-risk or novel engineering solutions.
  • Project Oversight & Delivery Excellence
    • Provide executive oversight of major HV projects, including substations, cable systems, switchgear, protection systems, and grid connections.
    • Support Project Directors and Managers in managing technical risk, programme challenges, and client interfaces.
    • Ensure effective interfaces between engineering, commercial, procurement, and construction teams.
    • Champion lessons-learned and post-project reviews to improve future performance.
  • People Leadership & Capability Development
    • Lead, mentor, and develop the engineering leadership team.
    • Define capability plans, succession planning, and competency frameworks.
    • Support recruitment and retention of high-calibre HV engineering talent.
    • Promote knowledge sharing and professional development (e.g. IET, CEng pathways).
  • Client & Stakeholder Management
    • Act as a senior technical ambassador to key clients, utilities, consultants, and joint-venture partners.
    • Build trusted long-term relationships with DNOs, ICPs, IDNOs, and National Grid.
