The predicted salary is between 43200 - 72000 £ per year.
Responsible for the production of Protection Engineering drawings/documents (Schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, cable block diagrams, cable schedules, core sheets, key line diagrams and panel layouts and arrangements) and checking against Design Specifications, programme, budget and to the appropriate quality and health and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Production of Protection Engineering solutions
- Detailed Protection Design
- Provide technical support and guidance on allocated schemes
- Checking of Engineering Technical Specifications
- Checking Design Risk Assessments
- Checking Design Quality Plans
- Responsible for technical issues on allocated projects
- Maintain the design change control process on associated schemes
- Co-ordinate with other designers within the team and carry out peer reviewing of designs
- Provide timely responses to non-conformances raised through the NCR+ process
- Coordinate with other departments on associated schemes
- Attend site meetings to discuss and advise construction staff on site related issues
- Attend Technical Meetings with Client, site or office based, to ensure Client satisfaction
- Gain product knowledge and site knowledge through visits to UK sites
- Provide tendering support when required
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
- Professional engineering status (or working towards) such as chartered engineer would be of benefit but is not essential
Knowledge & Skills:
- Experience in the use of Autocad and/or other similar CAD software.
- Experience in the use of relevant engineering design software (e.g. DigSilent Powerfactory, ETAP, Amtech etc).
- Understanding of UK industry standards, including DNO standards & specifications.
- Knowledge of commercial/contractual issues.
- Good written, verbal communication & interpersonal skills.
- Good personal management, decision making & problem-solving skills.
- Good computer literacy, including use of Microsoft office-based applications (e.g. word, excel & outlook).
- Full UK driving licence.
Experience:
- Extensive experience within the electrical power or related industries.
- Previous substation design experience in either the transmission or distribution fields would be advantageous, however candidates with experience in other related industries will be considered.
