The Civils Operations Manager is responsible for the overall operational delivery of civil engineering projects, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The role provides strong leadership across multiple sites, manages project teams and subcontractors, and acts as a key link between commercial, planning, and site delivery functions.
Key Responsibilities- Work as part of the Senior Management Team to ensure best‑in‑class services are provided to our clients.
- Manage pre‑start meetings, project reviews and sign‑offs.
- Conduct site visits to check quality of work and health and safety.
- Supervise and train team members.
- Manage the day‑to‑day requirements and requests of our clients.
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following and enforcing standards and procedures, and complying with legal regulations.
- Manage the commercial administration of the construction team, including valuations, disputes and final accounts.
- Encourage and inspire operations teams to produce their best work using their full flair, experience, resources and talents in a cost‑effective way.
- Ensure the delivery process recognises current legislation, standards and codes of practice, where appropriate.
- Help the business develop robust delivery procedures.
- Support the construction teams by managing the planning and delivery of large construction activities.
- Ensure development and review of project plans takes place to guarantee a structured delivery.
- Assist the business in winning new work.
- Manage relationships with key subcontractors.
- Good forward planning and excellent motivation skills – ability to manage teams with diverse skill sets and goals to produce a coordinated deliverable.
- Works well under pressure.
- Good people skills, ability to present ideas effectively and evaluate the ideas of others in meetings.
- In‑depth knowledge of all aspects of a construction project and efficient document management.
