What’s the role? The NPI Project Engineer supports the Design Programme Manager in managing the execution of product development projects through effective resource planning and cross-functional collaboration to support NPD initiatives such as new product development, cost reduction and optimisation. The NPI project engineer will work closely with product management, operations and finance, R&D and marketing. This role requires technical understanding of medium voltage switchgear, excellent project management skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and commercial teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the execution of NPD projects through the BRUSH Stage Gate Process, including planning, execution, monitoring, by supporting the delivery of engineering work packages within assigned NPD projects, ensuring delivery to agreed scope, cost, quality, and schedule.
- Track progress against milestones; identify and escalate risks, issues, and dependencies.
- Support BRUSH’s Stage Gate Process (support project gate meetings and update / maintain Stage Gate forms and formal design review processes - PDR, CDR, FMEA, DFMEA, PFMEA as appropriate).
- Coordinate design reviews, prototype builds, and validation testing.
- Support the maintenance of detailed technical specifications, design documentation, BOMs, and engineering change notes.
- Develop & issue detailed project plans, timelines, utilising appropriate BRUSH tools: Project for the web (PFTW), SAGE ERP (costing) and PRIMAVERA planning software.
What we’re looking for:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
- Experience in project engineering, ideally in electrical equipment or switchgear industry.
- Familiarity with medium voltage standards (IEC, BS).
- Proficiency in project management tools (MS Project, Primavera, or similar).
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and product lifecycle management.
- 2-5 years’ experience in project engineering role, ideally in a medium sized company.
- Experience within a manufacturing / engineering to order environment.
- Experience of refining & implementing new processes & systems in a product development team.
