You’ll be based at our Union office in the middle of Manchester City Centre on a 9 month FTC.
What we’re looking for
- It’d be brilliant if you have business rates experience – however we are certainly open to training this side of finance
- If you have previous experience in accounts payable, invoice coding, journal uploads and/or balance sheet reconciliations this will be a positive
- If you’ve studied a finance related degree and are keen to learn, with the confidence to manage external stakeholders then this could also be a good opportunity
What you’ll be doing
- Responsible for checking, coding & processing rates bills from multiple councils for the data upload of rates installments
- Working closely with our property services team on rates coding queries and invoice queries
- Engaging directly with Council contacts to resolve queries ensuring the bills we process are accurate or disputed and resolved
- Assist with requests for information from local authorities and Valuation Office Agency
- Ensuring approved rates bills are paid to terms and paid on the monthly BACS run
- Re-allocation of costs from the Balance sheet to the P&L via journal entries following Bacs Payments
- Promptly dealing with any rates refunds to clear them from the suspense account to the correct general ledger accounts
- Report to Professional Services team where rating assessment needs amending e.g splits and mergers
- Collate information required to further rating appeals for the Professional Services team
- Complete quarter end balance sheet reconciliations, identifying & resolving any variances
- Prompt resolution of any rates final demands to ensure these are resolved
- Work closely with commercial finance & property surveyors on allocation of cost queries
- Be able to deal with urgent items that require prompt resolution under pressure (e.g. Bailiff demands)
