Here at Brunswick Organic Nursery, we have a unique opportunity for a part-time HR Officer to join our team in Bishopthorpe!
Salary: £11,868.19 per annum (FTE £27,816.08, based on 37.5 hours per week). Hours: 16 hours per week, split across 3 days. Must be able to work until 4pm on at least two of the days. Based: Bishopthorpe, York, YO23 2RF.

Brunswick Organic Nursery is a registered charity based in Bishopthorpe, York, which provides a productive and rewarding workplace environment for people with learning disabilities to grow and thrive in. We build skills and confidence, support wellbeing and develop independence through offering opportunities in different work areas. These include events planning and office administration, crafts, woodwork, cooking and horticulture (growing plants at the garden nursery, growing organic fruit and vegetables, and a contract gardening service for the local community).
About the Role: We are seeking a HR professional to fulfil our HR administrative and operational function.
- Collaborate with Directors and Operations Manager for HR responsibilities for 40+ staff
- Ensure a high-quality HR function and smooth organisational operations
- Oversee our recruitment process
- Coordinate and record staff training
- Involvement in our monthly payroll processes
- Support the development of compliance and best practices
- Draft policies and coordinate our policy renewal schedule
- Assist in delivering interviewer training to adults with learning disabilities who are on our interview panels.
About You: Caring, trustworthy and conscientious, your qualities and people skills really matter to us – this role is central to how we value, nurture and invest in our team. In all aspects of this role, you'll need excellent attention to detail and be able to organise your work autonomously. You'll have strong listening and communication skills and your written language skills need to be excellent. You'll be comfortable collaborating with colleagues and also able to use your initiative.
