As the Trade Compliance Manager EMEA, you will be at the forefront of ensuring our EMEA region remains compliant with all regulatory requirements, industry standards, and relevant trade laws. You will collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams within the region and the global compliance team to execute and uphold Group compliance processes and governance. Your role will involve overseeing, coordinating, and executing Navico Group EMEA's compliance processes and governance.
Key responsibilities- Monitor and ensure the EMEA regions compliance with local, national and international regulations relevant to the industry.
- Stay up to date with the post‑Brexit trade landscape, ensuring compliance with the UK‑EU trade agreement, customs declarations and any changes to VAT, tariffs and rules of origin due to Brexit.
- Manage any changes in processes for UK and EU cross‑border trade and ensure that internal systems are adapted to comply with new customs requirements.
- Translate applicable laws and regulations including customs regulations, export controls, sanctions, and trade agreements into practical internal policies and procedures and advise the business on their implementation, focusing on risk management and compliance.
- Manage the documentation to guarantee adherence to all regulatory requirements.
- Identify potential compliance risks across the business and advise on mitigating actions, helping the organization proactively manage compliance challenges.
- Operate independently in organization‑wide projects and contribute as a subject matter expert to resolve complex compliance and risk related issues.
- Develop and deliver compliance and risk‑related training programs, raising awareness and ensuring that compliance is embedded within organizational processes and culture.
- Plan, organize and participate in internal and external audits to assess and improve compliance practices, ensuring continuous improvement and alignment with global standards.
- Serve as the primary contact for authorities such as but not limited to: Customs Authorities, Local government authorities, EU Regulators, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring timely and accurate compliance reporting and responses.
- Ensure accurate and complete record‑keeping for all trade compliance activities, including import/export transactions, regulatory filings, audit documentation and trade‑related agreements.
- Collaborate with other Brunswick entities to align compliance initiatives in the region and globally, ensuring consistency in compliance processes and strategies.
- 3-5 years of experience in compliance role, preferably in an international environment.
- University Degree in Compliance, International Trade or related field or certified compliance professional.
- Competent in spoken/written English, proficiency in additional languages is advantageous.
- Proven track record in the compliance work field.
- Strong knowledge of global trade regulations, including customs, export controls, sanctions, and free trade agreements (e.g., USMCA, EU regulations, WTO rules).
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex regulations into bitesize pieces for the organization.
- Proven experience managing cross‑functional projects and providing subject matter expertise on compliance issues.
- Ability to train and engage diverse teams on compliance‑related topics.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Comfortable working with authorities and external regulators.
