The Student Welfare Team is searching for an empathetic, proactive, and dedicated professional to join our dynamic team within the Student Support Services department.

The core focus of the Student Welfare Officer role is to provide a comprehensive, first‑point‑of‑contact support service for students. The position acts as a case holder, offering confidential advice and guidance on a range of issues—from personal wellbeing and finances to university regulations. The primary goal is to provide a holistic and efficient service that minimises the impact of personal challenges on a student’s academic journey.

Department/College: Directorate of Student Support Services

Location: Brunel University London, Uxbridge Campus

Salary: Grade 6 from £34,145 to £38,638 inclusive of London Weighting, potential to progress to £40,757 per annum through sustained exceptional contribution.

Hours: Full‑time

Contract Type: Permanent

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct face‑to‑face and online sessions to advise students and their families.
  • Handle individual student cases from start to finish, making independent decisions on the best course of action and referring to specialist services when necessary.
  • Work closely with various university departments and external agencies to ensure a coordinated and integrated support network.
  • Lead projects and provide wellbeing activities to foster greater student resilience.

An ideal candidate will have a degree (or equivalent) and exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Experience handling sensitive information and situations is a must.
