Description Of College/Department Or Aims Of Department
Brunel University of London is a world-class university based in Uxbridge, West London. Brunel established a new medical school in 2022 which is rapidly growing and attracting a diverse cohort of both UK and international students. In 2023, the Physician Associate (PA) programme was successfully integrated into the medical school, further strengthening its multidisciplinary approach. The Medical School is part of the College of Health, Medicine, and Life Sciences, a leading provider of health professional education including Physiotherapy, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, and Psychology programmes.
Brunel Medical School is recruiting for two Student Support and Wellbeing Officers. This role will provide support to current and prospective medical and PA students. This post will be the first point of contact for students regarding wellbeing and fitness to practice advice. Including making independent decisions to ensure that students have access to the relevant well-being and academic support tailored to their individual needs. The role will support: the development of workshops, peer-mentoring systems, events, and activities within the Brunel Medical School and ‘House System’ to enhance the students’ experience throughout medical school.

The Successful Candidate Should Have
- Experience of working in a student support role preferably within a medical School, clinical or other academic environment.
- Ability to demonstrate experience working with statutory requirements, institutional policies, and regulatory bodies, preferably within a medical school, clinical setting, or other academic environment.
- Have a strong understanding of student welfare and wellbeing issues, including the challenges faced in academic and clinical environments.
- Experience of handling sensitive information and situations
- Ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of the critical role student support services have in enhancing the student experience and supporting both student retention and academic achievement.
