The Governance and Secretariat Directorate is looking to appoint a Data Protection Advisor to our Privacy Team. This is a busy and varied role, working with colleagues across the University to provide advice, share information and help ensure we meet our responsibilities under Data Protection law, in line with our data protection framework and strategy.

You will act as the main contact for all stages of Subject Access Requests and other data subject right processes. You will give advice and support on a wide range of data protection issues relevant to the Higher Education sector, including investigating potential data breaches and helping to ensure new projects and services follow ‘data protection by design’. A key part of the role is helping colleagues understand their responsibilities and supporting them to work in line with the Data Protection Principles.

You will also work closely with our Information Champions, who are staff from across the University who support the Privacy Team within their departments. You will join a forward‑thinking, flexible team committed to ensuring that Brunel places privacy at the centre of how we use personal data.

We are looking for someone with significant experience in a data protection role, ideally within Higher Education. You will need a strong understanding of how data protection law works in practice and the ability to build effective relationships and networks so that compliance is approached in a practical, proportionate way.

Salary: Grade 7 from £40,757 to £47,921 inclusive of London Weighting with potential to progress to £52,067 per annum, inclusive of London Weighting, through sustained exceptional contribution (pro‑rata if part‑time).
