The Skills Development & Further Learning hub is part of Brunel’s Enabling Services which provide essential business support functions necessary for the university to operate smoothly and efficiently, both now and in the future.

The Skills Development & Further Learning Officer supports the operational delivery of Brunel University of London's apprenticeship and short courses provision. Working within the Skills Development & Further Learning Hub, the postholder will provide specialist administrative and compliance support to ensure apprenticeship programmes are delivered in line with apprenticeship funding rules and regulatory requirements.

The role will involve maintaining apprenticeship records and data, supporting funding returns, quality assurance activities, employer and stakeholder engagement, and providing advice and guidance to colleagues across the University. The postholder will contribute to the continuous improvement of apprenticeship processes, support audit and inspection readiness, and help ensure a high-quality experience for employers and apprentices.

Essential Person Specification Competencies

  • Experience of working within an apprenticeship, higher education, further education or training provider environment.
  • Knowledge of apprenticeship funding rules and compliance requirements.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with a range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to interpret guidance, provide accurate advice, and support compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Experience of working with complex data and administrative systems.
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative to resolve problems.
  • Experience of supporting quality assurance, audit, or compliance-related activities.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and delivering a high-quality service to learners, employers, and colleagues.
