The College of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences (CHMLS) is at the forefront of clinical and life science education, offering an array of courses, such as: Sport, Health and Exercise Sciences; Psychology; Biological Sciences; Physician Associate; Physiotherapy; Medicine; and Nursing. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a passionate individual to join our Services Team in a technical role, specifically supporting the Division of Sport, Health, and Exercise Sciences (SHES).

Location: Brunel University London, Uxbridge Campus

Salary:

  • Senior Technician (Grade 6): £32,995 - £37,488 inclusive of London Weighting with potential to progress to £39,607 per annum inclusive of London Weighting.
  • Technician (Grade 5): £28,250 - £32,113 inclusive of London Weighting with potential to progress to £33,904 per annum inclusive of London Weighting.

Hours: Full-time

Contract Type: Permanent

This is a fantastic opportunity, available at either Technician or Senior Technician grade, therefore it’s ideal for early career technicians or those with more experience aspiring for career growth and enhanced responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

You will play a pivotal role in our laboratories supporting their general operation, practical teaching, and research activities. The role will primarily support in Health and Exercise Physiology, but will have an important secondary focus on Sport Psychology. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing our facilities including procurement of equipment and consumables.
  • Developing policies and processes for efficient laboratory management.
  • Maintaining accurate records.
  • Training staff and students in the safe and correct use of equipment.
  • Supporting practical teaching and the day-to-day activities of the division and College.
  • Supporting income generation activities such as testing services.
Career Progression:

Depending on your qualifications, skills, and prior experience, you may be appointed at the grade 5 Technician level or grade 6 Senior Technician level. If appointed as a grade 5, you will have support for development and opportunities for promotion to the grade 6 Senior Technician level.
