An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit an academic to contribute to our UG, PGT and PGR curriculum in environmental management, environmental sciences, environmental monitoring, sustainable development and planetary health, and to make a substantial research contribution.

The Department of Life Sciences undertakes high quality undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and scientific research across the disciplines of Biosciences, Sport, Health & Exercise Sciences, Psychology and Environmental Sciences. With over 120 academics based on a pleasant campus, we are a highly committed and forward-thinking academic community, proud of our world-leading research, our diversity and the student experience we provide.

Our research is mostly centred on protecting the aquatic environment and society from harmful effects of chemical pollution in a rapidly changing world. To complement and build on our world-leading chemical pollution research we encourage applications from candidates with interests in the following topics: environmental economics, sustainable development, environmental management strategies for the mitigation of recognised threats, global heating and pollution mobilisation, planetary boundaries for pollution (including combined exposures), interactions between pollution and the aquatic environment.

Successful candidates will have a PhD in a relevant area, have appropriate experience in higher education, and an emerging (lecturer) or established (senior lecturer) research profile with publications suitable for submission to the next Research Excellence Framework (REF) exercise.
