Applications are invited for a Research Assistant/Research Fellow to join the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Brunel University London and contribute to the PORTAL project, a Horizon Europe MSCA-Staff Exchange initiative focused on developing threat-agnostic resilience strategies for port–city ecosystems.

- Hours: Part-time at 24.5 hours per week (0.7 FTE)
- Contract Type: Fixed-term for 24 months
- Salary: Research Assistant: from £36,640 to £38,638 inclusive of London Weighting with potential to progress to £39,682 per annum inclusive of London Weighting (pro-rata for part-time); Research Fellow: from £40,757 to £44,179 inclusive of London Weighting with potential to progress to £47,921 per annum inclusive of London Weighting (pro-rata for part-time)
Responsibilities
- Support the research, coordination, and impact activities of the PORTAL project.
- Contribute to resilience modelling, infrastructure risk assessment, geospatial or systems analysis, and documentation of case studies.
- Support project management and partner coordination.
- Work closely with the Project Coordinator and international consortium to produce high-quality research outputs, project delivery, and engagement with training, dissemination, and the project’s Community of Practice.
- Take advantage of opportunities for international research secondments to European partner institutions with MSCA top-up allowances as per Staff Exchange regulations.
Qualifications and experience
- Experience relevant to resilience modelling, infrastructure risk assessment, geospatial or systems analysis is desirable.
- Ability to contribute to documentation of case studies and to support coordination activities.
- Experience working in an international, collaborative research environment is advantageous.
