Responsibilities
- Understand the performance of aluminium alloys through manufacturing, microstructure analysis, and tensile testing.
- Perform microstructural characterisation of aluminium alloys.
- Model and simulate aluminium alloys for strengthening.
- Support research activities to deliver new state‑of‑the‑art automotive solutions.
- Prepare project progress reports and the final report.
- Prepare and deliver presentations at internal seminars, project progress meetings, and national and international conferences.
- Interact with other researchers in BCAST and research engineers from industry.
Qualifications
- Ph D in materials science and engineering, mechanical engineering or a related engineering discipline.
For a Research Assistant, VIVA must be finished before interviewing and final submission must be completed before starting the job.
- Research experience in solidification of metallic materials.
- Deep working knowledge of microstructure and mechanical properties of metallic materials.
- Good communication and presentation skills.
- Team player.
