BRULO is a premium alcohol free craft beer brand on a mission to become the go to alcohol free beer in the world. Hop forward, full flavoured, miles ahead of what most people think alcohol free can be. The Guardian called us the "Rolls-Royce of Alcohol Free Beer." The Telegraph gave us 5/5 in a blind taste test. 73% repeat purchase rate. 79 NPS.
We've sold millions of cans worldwide, almost entirely through organic growth. Until recently, BRULO was a side project for our founder James Brown, who built Beer52 into the world's largest craft beer subscription community with 200,000+ monthly subscribers before exiting. After that exit, he decided it was time to go all in on BRULO. We've just closed our first round of investment and we're building the team to take this from cult brand to category leader.
Our co-chairs are Alex Carlton, founder of Funkin, and Andrew King, former CEO of Funkin (sold to AG Barr) and PJ Smoothies (sold to PepsiCo). They're hands on, opinionated, and they're betting on BRULO to be the next one.
This is the future of marketing, and we want you to be one of the first to nail it. For decades, growth marketing has been a team sport. A specialist for paid social. Another for email. An agency for affiliate. A freelancer for influencer. By the time anything ships, a week is gone. That model is breaking.
The proof is already public. In 2025, Anthropic's entire growth marketing team was one person. Austin Lau ran paid search, paid social, app stores, email, and SEO for a $380bn company on his own, using Claude as his force multiplier. Ten months. One person. The output of a department. That is the model. That is this role.
If you do this job well, you become one of the first marketers in the world to genuinely operate this way at scale. You'll have companies trying to poach you. We won't let them go easily, but we won't be surprised either, because by then you'll be in the top 1% of growth marketers on the planet, and you'll have the receipts to prove it.
We're not hiring a Head of, a Director of, or a Chief anything. We're hiring the person who actually does the work, because doing the work is now the most leveraged thing a marketer can do.
What you will own:
- Every lever that drives DTC revenue at BRULO. That includes:
- Paid acquisition (Meta, Google, TikTok, YouTube).
- Email, SMS, and WhatsApp.
- Affiliate and partnerships.
- Influencer and creator.
- Referral and advocacy.
- Podcasts.
- PR and earned media.
- Direct mail and print inserts.
- Organic social and content.
- SEO, AEO, and GEO.
- CRO and landing pages on Shopify.
- Retention and lifecycle.
- Reporting and analytics.
How you'll actually do all of this:
This is where most people get stuck. Nobody has deep expertise across every channel. That's not the bar. The bar is: you bring deep expertise in some channels, and you use AI to become genuinely world class at the rest. Faster than any human ever could.
You'll use Claude and the wider AI stack as your partner. To build campaign briefs, draft creative, write copy, build landing pages, analyse data, generate ad variations at scale, and pressure test strategy. The skill is not knowing every channel from memory. The skill is knowing how to operate, what to test, how to read results, and how to use AI to compress a week of work into an afternoon.
If you've never used Claude Code or built a custom AI workflow before, that's fine. We'll teach you. The mindset matters more than the prior experience.
Who you are:
- Hands on by choice, not by circumstance. You don't want a team. You don't want to brief agencies. You want to be in the tools, shipping things, watching the numbers move.
- You've shipped real growth before. Ideally DTC, ideally food and drink or another fast moving consumer category. You can talk about exactly what you did and what you learned.
- You bring a network. Publishers, affiliates, podcasters, creators, journalists, partners. You can pick up the phone and open doors at pace because you've been building those relationships for years.
- Commercially sharp. You think in CAC, LTV, payback period, contribution margin. You understand that growth that doesn't pay back isn't growth.
- You move fast. You'd rather ship something at 80% today than perfect tomorrow.
- You write well. Most of growth marketing is writing. If you can't write, the AI can't help you, because you won't know what good looks like.
- You love the brand. You've tasted BRULO, you get what we're building, and you're excited about the alcohol free category. This isn't optional. We don't hire mercenaries.
Who you are not:
- Someone who wants to build a team.
- Someone looking to manage agencies.
- Someone interested in being the strategist while someone else executes.
- Specialised to the point of being unable to operate outside one channel. If your CV is three years of paid social and nothing else, this isn't your role.
- Afraid of AI replacing you. You're excited about AI making you ten times more effective.
How we work:
Lean and mean by design. We measure success by revenue per employee, not headcount or office size. We've been profitable since day one. We're not on the venture treadmill of endlessly raising and burning capital. We grow because customers love what we make.
We're AI native in the truest sense. AI isn't a productivity hack we bolted on. It's how we operate. Everyone in the business uses AI daily and is expected to keep getting better at it.
Everyone who joins gets EMI share options. Not just senior hires. Everyone. We want owners, not employees. The first hires after this round have come from companies like AG Barr and Funkin, and they're already shaping how we work.
Our values are our constitution. We expect everyone to read them, hold us to them, and hold each other to them.
If this lands with you, we want to hear from you. If it doesn't, no hard feelings, and good luck on the search.
What we offer:
- Direct access to the CEO and co-chairs, daily.
- Real strategic input from operators who've built and sold drinks brands at scale.
- Real ownership of the growth function from day one, plus EMI share options so you own a real piece of the business.
- Competitive salary and performance bonus tied to the metrics you control.
- Backers including the founders of Funkin, Beavertown, Cazoo, Red Letter Days, and Zoopla.
- Remote first, written communication over meetings, results only.
- A budget for AI tools, learning, and whatever else makes you more effective.
- A genuine commitment to your career trajectory. If you do this job well, your next move will be one of the most exciting in marketing. We'll be your biggest fans, even if it costs us.
How to apply:
