We are currently looking for a Field Service Engineer (m/f/d) to provide onsite support to our Service Team in the UK. You will be part of the EMEA service team, who provide support for a wide range of our tools. The position is home-based in the UK and involves frequent travel domestically and internationally on short notice.

Responsibilities

  • Familiarisation with specific instrumentation prior to installation from issued documentation and/or participation in the final testing process in the factory.
  • Liaise with customers and colleagues in the site planning process prior to installation.
  • Inspect, install, set up, test and achieve specifications of systems and accessories at customers’ sites, and deliver basic operator training.
  • Carry out breakdown and planned maintenance at customers’ sites (may include 24/7 callout).
  • Provide technical support and assistance to customers and to colleagues, either directly or by remote diagnosis.
  • Carry out procedures necessary to validate systems to certifiable standards.
  • Provide technical input to the sales team in non-routine sales cases.
  • Frequent travel within the UK, Ireland and occasionally abroad is an essential part of the job.

Activities will cover all products manufactured or represented by the Company. Specialism in certain products, technologies or ranges may form an additional responsibility that will make use of acquired skills and experience. Accurate record keeping and timely submission of documentation is a pre-requisite. Duties will be carried out mainly in the UK and Ireland, with an occasional requirement to provide field service support on customers’ premises abroad or at the factory. The position reports to the UK Service Manager, who will agree expectations, offer guidance as necessary and provide framework support.

Qualifications

  • Degree in scientific engineering, physics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Solid technical or scientific background gained in industry or academia.
  • Ability to independently install and commission advanced instrumentation.
  • Experience in training users on equipment operation and basic usage.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
  • Good computer literacy, including familiarity with data system hardware and standard operating systems.
  • Effective communication skills with fluency in spoken and written English (min. C1).
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and within a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and maintain professional relationships.
  • High level of professionalism and presentation.
  • Commitment to continuous learning in a fast-evolving technological environment.
  • Driving licence valid in the UK and Ireland.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally (EU and USA).
