We are recruiting an Investment Accounting Manager for a leading UK financial services business.
The role leads investment accounting, controls and valuations through to trial balance.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the investment accounting close through to trial balance, covering journals, reconciliations, valuations, accruals and income.
- Own the control environment, resolve breaks and data issues, and manage audit relationships.
- Review results and explain movements driven by markets, asset mix and transactions.
- Oversee pricing and valuation controls for complex and illiquid assets, including Python-based models.
- Lead finance delivery for new products, asset classes and transactions.
- Improve and automate processes to create a faster, more resilient close.
- Lead and develop the accounting team, oversee the offshore provider and partner with key stakeholders.
The ideal candidate
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with relevant post-qualification experience.
- Strong IFRS 9 and UK GAAP knowledge across fixed income, derivatives, funds and illiquid assets.
- Experience in Life Insurance, Asset Management, Banking or a related financial services environment.
- Proven people leadership and third-party oversight.
- Strong analytical, stakeholder-management and communication skills.
- Experience of new products or process change; life insurance, Python or SQL exposure is advantageous.
