An established and highly regarded London Market reinsurance organisation is seeking an experienced Proportional Treaty Reinsurance Technician to join its specialist Technical Accounts team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong proportional treaty technical accounting experience who is confident managing accounts end-to-end and enjoys working within a collaborative, service-focused environment.

The Role

Working closely with a small, experienced team, you will be responsible for the checking, processing and administration of Proportional Treaty technical accounts for an international client base. The successful candidate will manage their own portfolio of proportional treaty accounts and will liaise directly with both clients and reinsurers throughout the full technical accounting lifecycle. The role involves implementing robust checking procedures to ensure the accuracy of treaty accounts and compliance with corresponding reinsurance policy slips, whilst ensuring all submissions, settlements and related technical processing are completed within required deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing Proportional Treaty technical accounts from inception through to settlement
  • Reviewing and checking treaty accounts for accuracy and compliance with underlying reinsurance documentation
  • Preparing and processing London Market bureau A&S submissions
  • Managing LORS payment processing through bureau systems
  • Liaising directly with clients, reinsurers, brokers and internal teams regarding queries and settlements
  • Monitoring workflow, submissions and reporting deadlines through internal tracking systems
  • Working closely with finance/IBA teams to assist with overseas settlements and funding management
  • Assisting with renewal policy checks alongside broker support teams
  • Producing statistical information and management reporting for placing and renewal presentations
  • Ensuring all processing is completed in accordance with company procedures and market standards
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation at all times

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 3 years' proportional treaty or reinsurance technical accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of London Market and overseas proportional treaty business
  • Experience handling technical accounts end-to-end
  • Good working knowledge of Lloyd's bureau systems, A&S processing and LORS
  • Strong Excel and analytical skills
  • High levels of numeracy and attention to detail
  • The ability to work independently whilst also contributing within a close-knit team
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet tight deadlines
  • A methodical and diligent approach to processing
  • Confidence working with high volumes of manual data input
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Additional Information

The team operates on a flexible hybrid basis with attendance in the London office expected at least one day per week, increasing where business needs require. New joiners will initially spend more time in the office while becoming familiar with internal systems and processes. The business handles a diverse international portfolio including clients across the Caribbean, Scandinavia, the United States and Eastern Europe, covering classes such as: Property, Bonds, Cyber, Marine, Fish Farms.
