A leading financial services organisation is looking to hire an experienced Project Manager on a 12-month contract. This role will sit within a central implementation and projects function, supporting a varied portfolio of business change and technology-enabled projects. The successful candidate will work across multiple areas of the business, managing delivery, supporting governance and helping senior stakeholders drive projects forward. This is not a pure technology PM role. The client is looking for someone with strong business-facing project delivery experience who can work closely with senior stakeholders, handle ambiguity and add value quickly.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver complex business change and technology-enabled projects
  • Support PMO activity including planning, governance, reporting, documentation, risks and issues
  • Work closely with senior stakeholders, sponsors and business teams
  • Provide challenge and structure to help projects stay on track
  • Support multiple projects at different stages of the delivery lifecycle
  • Use project tools and frameworks to improve consistency and delivery

Key experience

  • Project Management experience within financial services
  • Insurance, pensions or investment banking experience would be highly relevant
  • Comfortable working with senior sponsors and executives
  • Able to manage ambiguity and changing priorities
  • Strong PMO capability, including governance, reporting, risks and issues
  • Good IT literacy, ideally including Jira
  • Agile awareness would be useful

This would suit a delivery-focused Project Manager who can operate with limited handholding, build credibility quickly and work in a high-expectation financial services environment. The role is inside IR35, initially for 12 months, with an expectation of being in the office at least four days per week.
