Operational Risk Manager – 2nd Line of Defence

An international financial services provider is seeking an Operational Risk Manager to provide independent 2nd Line of Defence oversight across the group. This role focuses on managing operational risks, with a strong emphasis on Third Party Risk and Intergroup Outsourcing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead operational risk oversight for COO, focusing on third-party risk management, inter-group outsourcing, data protection, and new product/change assessments.
  • Challenge and review risk assessments, data protection impact assessments, and incident reports.
  • Support compliance with FCA, PRA, and ICO regulations through policy development and horizon scanning.
  • Collaborate with GRC teams to enhance risk tools and prepare risk committee papers.
  • Foster a strong risk culture and mentor junior risk professionals.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven senior experience in operational risk management within UK financial services.
  • Strong expertise in Third Party Risk and Intergroup Outsourcing, including cloud outsourcing.
  • Experience with group structures, including subsidiaries and branches.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills with a solutions-driven approach.
