We are partnering with a leading financial services organisation to recruit a Manager, Mutual Funds to join a high-performing operations team in Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced operations leader with a strong background in financial services, team management, and process improvement. The successful candidate will oversee a team responsible for a range of fund-related activities while driving operational excellence, enhancing controls, and delivering exceptional service to internal and external stakeholders.

The Role as Manager, Mutual Funds, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of an operational team supporting fund-related activities. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring a combination of people management, operational oversight, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement.

  • Managing and developing a team responsible for fund-related operational activities.
  • Overseeing processes such as fund manager account openings, AML due diligence, share class conversions, fund trading, settlements, and associated controls.
  • Ensuring all operational tasks are completed accurately and within agreed service levels.
  • Identifying, implementing, and driving process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce risk.
  • Producing and analysing management information (MI), KPIs, and KRIs to monitor performance and support decision-making.
  • Managing escalations and ensuring timely resolution of client and operational issues.
  • Supporting regulatory compliance through robust controls and governance frameworks.
  • Coordinating testing activities and supporting system enhancements and software releases.
  • Leading resource planning and ensuring projects are delivered within agreed timelines.
  • Maintaining adherence to records management and business continuity requirements.
  • Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and delivering a high standard of client service.
  • Championing a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

About You: We are looking for an experienced operations professional with proven leadership capability and a passion for improving processes and driving team performance.

  • Significant experience managing and developing operational teams within financial services.
  • Strong people management skills, including experience handling employee relations matters.
  • Extensive operational experience within investment operations, fund administration, transfer agency, custody, wealth management operations, or a similar environment.
  • Highly process-driven with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, with the ability to manipulate data, produce MI, analyse trends, and support decision-making.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience managing operational controls, KPIs, KRIs, and governance processes.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Mutual funds, transfer agency, or fund operations experience.
  • Exposure to automation, robotics, workflow optimisation, or operational efficiency initiatives.
  • Experience supporting operational change and transformation projects.
