I’m working with a leading UK financial services organisation to appoint a Ledger Control Manager.
This is a high-impact opportunity for a qualified accountant who combines strong ledger governance and technical accounting expertise with a track record of delivering complex finance change.
The successful candidate will own ledger integrity, accounting architecture and reporting controls, translating technical accounting requirements into effective operational delivery.
You will lead a small specialist team and work closely with senior stakeholders across Finance, Actuarial, Technology, Change, Operations and Risk.
Key
Responsibilities: Own the integrity, governance and control of the general ledger and related accounting infrastructure.
Ensure journals, postings and ledger movements are complete, accurate and supported by appropriate accounting rationale.
Govern the chart of accounts, profit and cost centres, units of account, financial dimensions and reporting hierarchies.
Translate complex transactions and new initiatives into compliant accounting treatments, including under IFRS 17 and IFRS 9.
Lead the operational delivery of accounting and reporting change across finance systems, processes and data flows.
Improve reporting outputs, reconciliations, data lineage, automation and overall control effectiveness.
Manage and develop a small team while securing stakeholder and audit support for key decisions.
Candidate
Background: Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
Significant experience in financial accounting, technical accounting, financial control or ledger accounting.
Strong knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping, general ledger operations and accounting control frameworks.
IFRS 17 experience is required; experience of IFRS 9 and the life insurance sector is highly desirable.
Proven experience implementing accounting change within complex finance systems and data environments.
Strong leadership, communication and influencing skills, with experience managing teams and cross-functional initiatives.
