I'm working with a specialist insurance platform looking to appoint an Energy Underwriter into its London team. This is a strong opportunity for someone with experience across upstream, midstream, downstream, power and/or renewable energy risks (Mostly Downstream) who wants to join a growing business with a clear underwriting strategy, technical credibility and genuine appetite to build.
The role will support the Head of Energy in delivering the division's business plan, underwriting a varied portfolio while helping to develop broker relationships, identify new business opportunities and contribute to sustainable, profitable growth. This is not a purely desk-based underwriting role. The successful individual will need to be commercial, technically sound and confident representing the business externally.
You'll be involved in:
- Underwriting Energy risks within appetite and authority.
- Managing broker, client and market relationships.
- Supporting portfolio management, business planning and performance monitoring.
- Identifying new business and cross-class opportunities.
- Contributing to strong underwriting governance and peer review.
- Supporting junior underwriting talent where required.
The ideal profile will be an Energy underwriting professional with strong judgement, relationship management skills and a disciplined approach to risk selection. Experience across international or specialty Energy risks would be highly relevant, although the business is open-minded on exact background where the technical foundations are strong. This could suit someone who enjoys technical underwriting but wants more visibility, more influence and the chance to contribute to a platform that is still growing.
Competitive Salary and Above Market Standard Targeted Bonus.
