I’m working with a leading UK financial services organisation to appoint a Ledger Control Manager. This is a high-impact opportunity for a qualified accountant who combines strong ledger governance and technical accounting expertise with a track record of delivering complex finance change. The successful candidate will own ledger integrity, accounting architecture and reporting controls, translating technical accounting requirements into effective operational delivery. You will lead a small specialist team and work closely with senior stakeholders across Finance, Actuarial, Technology, Change, Operations and Risk.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the integrity, governance and control of the general ledger and related accounting infrastructure.
  • Ensure journals, postings and ledger movements are complete, accurate and supported by appropriate accounting rationale.
  • Govern the chart of accounts, profit and cost centres, units of account, financial dimensions and reporting hierarchies.
  • Translate complex transactions and new initiatives into compliant accounting treatments, including under IFRS 17 and IFRS 9.
  • Lead the operational delivery of accounting and reporting change across finance systems, processes and data flows.
  • Improve reporting outputs, reconciliations, data lineage, automation and overall control effectiveness.
  • Manage and develop a small team while securing stakeholder and audit support for key decisions.

Candidate Background:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Significant experience in financial accounting, technical accounting, financial control or ledger accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping, general ledger operations and accounting control frameworks.
  • IFRS 17 experience is required; experience of IFRS 9 and the life insurance sector is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience implementing accounting change within complex finance systems and data environments.
  • Strong leadership, communication and influencing skills, with experience managing teams and cross-functional initiatives.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established, purpose-led organisation with a strong reputation and a meaningful finance transformation agenda. Alongside a competitive package, the firm offers flexible working and genuine scope for professional development.
