Here at Bruce Medical Centre in Bellshill we have an exciting opportunity to appoint an experienced Medical Receptionist. Bruce Medical Centre is a progressive and friendly working practice, which offers the opportunity to work within modern custom built premises. The Practice has just over 8,400 permanently registered patients. 37 hours per week over 4 days of the week. Starting at 8am and finishing at 6pm with an hour for lunch and paid tea break. An early start date would be preferred and salary will be reflected and dependent on experience. The post is on a temporary Fixed Term basis and is subject to review. It is essential that you have a knowledge of Medical Terminology combined with the understanding and ability to be able to use our Vision Clinical System, Docman and a breadth of knowledge on the use of Microsoft Office applications.
Applicants should have excellent IT, communication and organisational skills with a confident, courteous and friendly approach to patients, doctors and other members of the team both over the telephone and in person. Primarily the post will also attract the following aspects: general reception work, efficiently dealing with appointments, prescriptions and enquiries in person and by telephone, accurately maintaining and working with clinical data and patient records.
Previous experience of working within a busy Surgery or Hospital environment or similar would be an advantage. You should work well under pressure and be able to work within a team environment.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly as they arrive and assist them with the check-in process.
- Manage incoming calls, schedule appointments, and handle patient inquiries efficiently.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality in accordance with data protection regulations.
- Process patient registrations and verify insurance information.
- Ensure correspondence, reports, results etc. are filed electronically in correct patient record.
- Book in, amend and cancel patient appointment inline with practice appointments procedures ensuing optimum efficiency of the appointment system.
Experience
- Previous experience in an office or administrative role is essential, preferably within a healthcare setting.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact professionally with patients and staff.
- Proficiency in using office software and medical management systems is advantageous. Working knowledge of Vision and Docman Clinical Systems would be advantageous.
- Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining a calm demeanour in a busy environment.
