At Brucan Bakery, we are looking for a passionate, early-rising Baker/Pastry Chef to join our craft-focused team. If you have a love for lamination, a feel for dough, and a desire to elevate your pastry skills, we'd love to meet you. We have an exciting vision of creating items which are seasonal and unique, so we aim to change the menu every month and introduce exciting specials.
The Role
This is a hands-on role where quality is the priority. You'll be responsible for maintaining our high standards across our pastry and savoury selection, ensuring every item that hits the counter is exceptional.
- Pay: Up to £15 per hour (depending on experience).
- Hours: 25-35 hours per week.
- Schedule: Thursday-Sunday (Weekend availability is essential).
- Starts: Early starts will be required but not always.
What You'll Be Doing
- Viennoiserie & Enriched Doughs: Laminating, shaping, and baking off our range of croissants, danishes, and brioche.
- Savoury Prep: High-quality sandwich preparation using fresh, seasonal ingredients and a chef's eye for detail.
- Consistency: Ensuring every pastry meets Brucan's aesthetic and flavour standards.
- Station Management: Keeping your workspace organised and efficient during busy production hours.
- All Hands on Deck: As a small business, we sometimes need help in other areas; this may include helping out front-of-house or assisting with washing up.
What We're Looking For
- Experience: At least 1 year of professional experience in a bakery or pastry environment.
- Technical Skill: Confidence working with viennoiserie and enriched doughs.
- Attitude: Someone who is willing to learn and grow, there's a lot to learn in the profession and we'd love someone who wants to grow with the business.
- Reliability: You're a morning person who thrives in the quiet hum of an early start.
- Efficiency: Ability to manage your prep list effectively while maintaining a clean, organised station.
