BRS Cleaning Contractors is a specialist after-build construction cleaning business with a strong reputation across the UK construction sector. Since its founding in 2013, we have grown rapidly, working with Tier 1 contractors and delivering high-quality builders cleaning services across a wide spectrum of project types from residential and commercial developments to major public buildings.
We are ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001 certified, operate to high quality and health & safety standards, and place sustainability at the core of our operations. As we enter our next growth phase, we are seeking a commercially astute and sector-experienced Quantity Surveyor (QS) with strong client-facing capability to lead business development, drive commercial expansion across the UK, scale our pipeline, and secure profitable new contracts.
Role Overview & Purpose
This is a high-impact, externally facing role. The successful candidate will combine sector knowledge with commercial drive, bringing a strong understanding of the construction lifecycle, procurement processes, pricing, tendering, and handover requirements. You will be instrumental in shaping BRS’s commercial growth: identifying and developing new client relationships, supporting bid, tender, and pricing activity, and converting opportunities into secured contracts.
A background in construction is essential. Candidates with Quantity Surveying, Estimating, Pre-Construction, Commercial Management, or Project Management experience who also bring strong commercial or BD capability will be prioritised.
Key Responsibilities
- Commercial Growth & Prospecting
- Identify, research, and target new clients (contractors, property developers, facilities managers) across the UK
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities
- Lead outreach through networking, referrals, cold contact, digital channels, and industry engagements
- Assess opportunities based on contract value, programme, risk, and margin drivers
- Work closely with estimating and operational teams to support pricing, scope definition, and submission development
- Interpret drawings, BOQs, schedules, and scope documentation
- Contribute to bid strategy, tender negotiation, and commercial analysis
- Build and nurture long-term relationships post-award
- Support onboarding, delivery handover, and close-out
- Identify recurring, cross-sell, and upsell opportunities across regions and project types
- Maintain CRM data integrity, forecasting accuracy, and pipeline reporting
- Track commercial KPIs: win rates, conversion, margins, cycle length, client value
- Provide market intelligence, competitor insight, and strategic recommendations
- Contribute to growth planning by region, sector, and service line
- Represent BRS at industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events
- Deliver client presentations, commercial pitches, and solution proposals
- Promote BRS’s position as a specialist quality leader in construction cleaning
What We Are Looking For
- Essential Experience & Skills
- Proven experience in construction or related built-environment sectors
- Technical understanding of construction processes, handover, and site delivery
- Experience in commercial roles such as Quantity Surveying, Estimating, Pre-Construction, Commercial Management, or Project Management
- Demonstrable BD or client-facing commercial success: winning or influencing bids, tenders, or contract awards
- Strong commercial acumen: pricing, margin, risk, negotiation
- Clear communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills
- Proficiency with CRM and pipeline management
- Valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel
- Background in specialist services (e.g. cleaning, post-construction, facilities maintenance, subcontracting trades)
- Existing relationships within contractor or developer networks
- Experience supporting large tender submissions
- Understanding of health & safety, quality standards, and compliance requirements
What You Will Gain
- Competitive base salary + performance-based commission
- Ability to shape and lead BRS’s commercial trajectory during a significant growth phase
- High visibility role with direct strategic influence
- Opportunity to build a national portfolio of Tier 1 clients and major development projects
- A collaborative culture within a close-knit, ambitious, delivery-driven team
