The predicted salary is between 25000 - 35000 ÂŁ per year.
The “Period of Recognised Training” or “Qualifying Work Experience” will consist of a two-year training programme covering both a Contentious and Non-Contentious seat. During this time, you will be regarded as a fee earning member of staff, and you will be expected to provide a high-quality legal service to all our clients, under the supervision and training of a qualified solicitor.
Responsibilities
- Conduct of matters on behalf of Clients, under supervision.
- Participation in the promotion of the firm among local professional firms including Networking events.
- Financial control with particular regard to cash flow control through collection of monies on account, billing procedures and file closure.
- Deputise for Fee Earning colleagues within the Department during holidays and absences as directed by supervisor.
- Conduct interviews with clients.
- Assess legal problems.
- Advise clients on fees.
- Conduct legal research.
- Negotiate settlements.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Maintain the firm’s policies and procedures in line with Lexcel, WIQS and CQS requirements.
- Maintain organised files.
- Be able to accurately follow administrative systems and procedures.
Person Specification
- The main qualifications for this position is preferably a 2:1 or higher qualifying Law degree and you must have passed, or be currently taking the LPC or pass both SQE1 and SQE2 within the 2 year time period.
- The jobholder must display a pleasant, but assertive manner in dealing with colleagues and clients and provide a professional and friendly service.
- You must be an effective communicator, both orally and in writing, having a good command of the English language.
- You will be expected to assist in the preparation of cases, usually under pressure and to tight deadlines. You must, therefore, be able to prioritise workloads at any given time.
- Personally efficient and well organised, with a good control of diary systems and competent in the firm’s computer facilities.
- Competent keyboarding skill set; you will have the ability to view situations from different angles.
- You will need to develop a capability of delegating tasks, supervising where appropriate and working on your own initiative.
