Broxtowe Borough Council is seeking a proactive, organised and technically competent Project Officer – Capital & Development to join the Asset Management & Development Team within Landlord Services. This is a fast paced and high tempo delivery role within a small, supportive and knowledgeable team. The post holder will manage and coordinate multiple capital, planned maintenance and development related projects concurrently across the Council’s housing stock of approximately 4,500 homes.
Reporting to the Senior Project Officer, you will support the delivery of projects from initial survey, specification and procurement through to completion and handover. The role requires the ability to balance competing priorities, maintain momentum across a busy work programme, and respond effectively to emerging issues on site — all while ensuring works are delivered safely, to budget, to specification and in line with council, procurement and statutory requirements.
You will work closely with the Housing Development Manager, Procurement Officer, contractors and internal stakeholders to successfully deliver schemes in a demanding operational environment.
We’re looking for an individual who has experience in:
- Applying practical knowledge of building construction methods, materials, and defect diagnosis.
- Delivering capital works, planned maintenance, or development projects, ideally within a housing or public sector setting.
- Managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
- Working at pace while maintaining effective control over quality, cost, and compliance.
- Monitoring project finances, including contractor valuations and managing variations.
The ideal candidate would be:
- Knowledgeable in public sector procurement processes, particularly for small value works.
- Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise and manage competing demands effectively.
- An excellent communicator, with a collaborative and customer focused approach.
- Qualified in construction, surveying, property, or a related discipline (or able to demonstrate equivalent experience).
- Someone who represents and demonstrates our GREAT values and behaviours.
This post is a designated car user role and requires regular site attendance. Occasional evening or out of hours working may be required to support service delivery.
