Are you passionate about technical theatre? Is sound and lighting your thing? The Spotlight Theatre are recruiting a Venue Technician. The Broxbourne Council venue, close to Hoddesdon High Street, has a host of first‑class entertainment shows and events lined up with fun for all ages.
Responsibilities
- You will be responsible for the technical operation supporting The Spotlight’s busy events and entertainments programme.
- You will ensure the smooth running of all technical aspects of productions as well as support for a range of events including cinema, conferences and private functions.
- Duties involve rigging, setting up and operating sound/lighting and stage equipment according to the venue’s busy programme.
- This is a varied role including practical technical work and supervision of casual technicians.
- You will need to be great with people as well as having experience of large‑scale technical work, including production experience.
Qualifications
- You will have at least three years of experience working as a professional theatre technician in a multifunctional venue.
- You will have knowledge and experience of a broad range of technical theatre aspects such as sound, lighting, set building and stage management.
- You will have an in‑depth knowledge of Health and Safety issues, good communication skills, and be a team player with the ability to work flexibly.
- Electrical installation and formal backstage technical qualifications are desirable.
- The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in fluent English is essential in this post.
Essential skills and experience
- Excellent proven customer care skills.
- Flexibility in relation to duties and working hours which will include evenings and weekends.
- First Aid at work training (essential: we will provide training if necessary).
- Fire Marshal training (essential: we will provide training if necessary).
- Strong logistical skills.
