An exciting opportunity to join a busy and progressive local authority in Hertfordshire to help them lead their Development Management and Planning Enforcement services. Located close to Greater London, the authority faces several development pressures. The postholder would line manage a number of team members, and be responsible for their development, as well as ensuring their day-to-day work is carried out to the highest of standards. The postholder will play their part in delivering sustainable development, whilst maintaining Broxbourne as an attractive place to live, work and visit.
Responsibilities:
- Line manage team members, develop them and ensure that their daily work meets the highest standards.
- Analyse development proposals, review and appraise officer reports, drive excellent performance, and communicate both verbally and in writing with planners, developers, agents, elected members and other stakeholders.
- Speciate site visits and inspections as part of the Development Management service.
Qualifications:
- Experienced manager of people or strong planning experience, organised, enthusiastic, committed and motivated.
- Work efficiently under your own initiative, and effectively in partnership with planning colleagues and other stakeholders.
- Confident using common IT applications such as Microsoft Office and with good attention to detail.
- Ability to analyse development proposals and review reports, drive performance and communicate effectively.
- Current full driving licence and ability to undertake site visits and inspections.
