This is a varied and challenging role, and the rewards of helping households resolve their housing needs make it a great career choice.

If you want to apply to be part of our team, you should ideally have previous experience working within a Local Authority or in a housing or homelessness setting, and have knowledge of the relevant legislation, although transferable skills would be considered for this position. You should also be highly motivated, with a genuine interest in helping people. Previous experience working in a customer-facing role is essential, as are excellent communication skills. Fluent spoken English skills are essential as this role requires having sensitive conversations with clients and setting expectations clearly. Good written and analytical skills are equally important; therefore, a GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths is required, together with a full driving license.

The Council offers hybrid working arrangements. During the probationary period, the role is office-based so that our hands-on, supportive and comprehensive training programme can be delivered in person; this approach helps new colleagues feel confident, connected, and fully equipped to thrive in the role.

This role requires a disclosure and barring service check as it is working with children or vulnerable clients.
