An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in a busy and thriving Planning Department.

The Council is looking for an enthusiastic and organised individual to provide support in its Planning Administration Section. You should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work on your own initiative. You should have experience of working in a customer facing environment and be able to demonstrate a high standard of customer care. Ideally you will have good ICT skills and possess appropriate GCSE/’O’ level passes in English and Maths or equivalent qualifications.

Training and apprenticeship

Full training will be provided including the opportunity to enroll in the Level 4 Town Planning Assistant apprenticeship. Previous experience in interpreting plans or working in a Planning department would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Validation and registering of planning applications
  • Act as case officer on planning applications for lawful development certificates including making site visits, making assessments and writing up reports for such applications
  • Production of monthly Planning and Regulatory Committee PowerPoint
  • Participation in the general work of the Administration team
  • Answering the telephone and providing administrative support to Planning Officers
