Broxap is a market-leading UK manufacturer of street furniture, shelters and outdoor structures β and we are growing. We are now looking for an experienced Sheet Metalwork CAD Technician to help modernise our design library, drive manufacturing efficiency, and play a hands-on role in how our products are designed and produced. This is an office-based role β you must be able to commute to ST5.
The CAD Technician Role:
- This is a practical, improvement-focused CAD role where you will take ownership of our existing 2D designs and transform them into robust, optimised 3D sheet metal models ready for modern manufacturing.
- You will work closely with our Technical Director, Design Manager and Production teams, ensuring designs are efficient, manufacturable, and future-ready.

Key Responsibilities of the CAD Technician:
- Convert & Upgrade Designs: Maintain and catalogue our existing 2D AutoCAD flat patterns, then develop them into accurate, optimised 3D models using Autodesk Inventor (preferred) or SolidWorks.
- Engineering Change & Optimisation: Implement Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) to improve manufacturability, reduce material waste, and align designs with new production technologies.
- Manufacturing-Led Design: Adapt designs for modern sheet metal processes including laser cutting, CNC punching and automated bending.
- Design for Manufacture (DFM): Ensure designs are cost-effective, modular, and production-efficient, improving lead times and material utilisation.
- Documentation & Continuous Improvement: Maintain accurate 3D models, drawings and change logs while contributing to ongoing design and process improvements.
What We Are Looking For:
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a Sheet Metalwork CAD / Draughting role.
- Strong 2D AutoCAD experience.
- Solid 3D sheet metal modelling skills using Autodesk Inventor (preferred) or SolidWorks; Training on our preferred 3D suite is available for the right candidate.
- Good understanding of bending processes and sheet metal fabrication.
- Experience designing for CNC, laser cutting and modern manufacturing methods.
- Ability to analyse related products and improve modularity and efficiency.
- Knowledge of outdoor materials such as pre-galv, stainless steel and aluminium.
- Clear communicator with strong attention to detail.
- Engineering or design qualification beneficial, but not essential.
