Groundsperson – Salary £28,600 - £36,400 per year (depending on experience & qualifications). We’re looking for an experienced Groundsperson who takes pride in running an efficient, organised and safe work site. A great groundsperson is every bit as important as a great climber. This is not a role for someone who simply drags brash. We believe the ground operation is what makes a tree team successful. You’ll be the person keeping the job moving, supporting the climber, managing the work area and ensuring every site runs smoothly from start to finish. Whether you are an experienced groundsperson or an ex‑climber who prefers to keep the operation running from the ground, we’d love to hear from you.

The Role

Working alongside our climbers and other groundsman, you’ll take responsibility for keeping the ground operation organised, efficient and safe throughout the day. You’ll be expected to think ahead, anticipate what’s needed and help the whole team work efficiently.

Duties Include

  • Running the ground operation on site
  • Supporting climbers throughout dismantles and pruning work
  • Preparing rigging equipment and assisting with lowering operations
  • Operating woodchippers safely and efficiently
  • Chainsaw work including snedding and timber processing
  • Keeping timber, brash and equipment organised
  • Managing site safety for the public and the team
  • Loading and unloading vehicles and equipment
  • Daily maintenance and care of machinery and tools
  • Helping maintain high standards of workmanship and professionalism

We're Looking For Someone Who

  • Has solid experience working in tree surgery
  • Understands how to keep a site running efficiently
  • Is reliable and turns up ready to work
  • Takes pride in doing things properly
  • Can work independently without constant supervision
  • Is physically fit and enjoys outdoor work
  • Holds a full UK driving licence
  • Wants a long‑term career rather than simply using the role as a route into climbing

Desirable Qualifications

  • Chainsaw Maintenance & Cross Cutting (CS30 or equivalent)
  • Felling Small Trees (CS31 or equivalent)
  • Woodchipper Certificate
  • Emergency First Aid +F

What We Offer

  • Pay from £28,600 - £36,400+, depending on experience and qualifications
  • Paid overtime opportunities
  • Ongoing training and funded qualifications
  • Clear progression into leading your own team
  • Modern fleet, machinery and equipment
  • Uniform and PPE provided
  • Company pension
  • Company sick pay
  • 28 days holiday including bank holidays
  • A friendly, family‑run business with over 25 years’ experience
