Overview

Browns Manufacturing Limited, part of the Browns Food Group, is one of the UK\’s largest cooked and sliced meat producers. We supply to major supermarkets nationwide and have invested in a new 50,000 square foot extension to increase efficiencies and capacity as we continue our Scottish pork processing journey.

We are currently looking for an experienced Technical Manager, to drive the technical resource of the business forward whilst supporting management decisions. As Technical Manager you will ensure the BRC standard, legislation and customer requirements are met and maintained at all times, maintain the Quality Management System, identify trends, report them, and implement corrective action. You will also work on continuous improvement projects within the business.

Reporting to the Group Technical Director, you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of the food safety and quality of our product range and that it fulfils the requirements of all customer codes of practice and general best practice in the food industry.

The Candidate

  • An extensive knowledge of technical systems, procedures and protocols (Tesco, BRC v9).
  • Relevant qualifications in a scientific/technical discipline (degree or HND level).
  • Relevant food industry experience within technical management.
  • Excellent people management skills with the ability to motivate the team and good time management and the ability to prioritise.
  • Self-motivated and a self-starter.
  • Flexible approach to work.
  • Highly organised individual.
  • Good PC skills in Excel, Word and Email.
  • Accurate work ethic – attention to detail.
  • Level 3 HACCP, preferably level 4.
  • Level 4 Hygiene.
  • Working knowledge of allergens and retailer allergen CoP’s.
  • Internal auditor, preferably BRC third party auditor certification in line with either BRC or ISO standards.
  • High Care/High Risk experience.
