Job Title: Freelance Designer – Wall Partitions, Drylining & Ceilings Location: Cumbria Job Type: Freelance / Contract Sector: Commercial Interiors & Construction About the Role: Brownlee Cale are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Freelance Designer to support our client with the design and specification of wall partitions, drylining systems, taping and jointing, and suspended ceilings for a build project in Cumbria. The successful candidate will play a key role in producing accurate and efficient designs that align with project requirements, building regulations, and client expectations. Key Responsibilities: * Develop and deliver technical drawings and specifications for: * Partition wall systems * Drylining and internal finishes * Suspended and MF ceilings * Taping and jointing details * Collaborate closely with project managers, architects, and contractors to ensure designs meet commercial and regulatory standards. * Conduct site visits as needed to understand spatial requirements and verify installation feasibility. * Make material and system recommendations based on performance, cost, and compliance. * Provide design revisions and updates throughout the construction phase. Requirements: * Proven experience in designing drylining, partition systems, and ceilings within commercial construction or interior fit-out sectors. * Strong understanding of relevant UK building standards and practices. * Proficient in AutoCAD or similar design software (e.g., Revit, SketchUp). * Excellent attention to detail and ability to interpret architectural plans. * Strong communication and time management skills. * Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines. Desirable: * CSCS card or relevant on-site experience. * Familiarity with manufacturers such as British Gypsum, Knauf, Armstrong, etc. * Knowledge of fire-rated and acoustic systems.
