Brownlee Cale are seeking an experienced Design Manager to oversee and coordinate design activities on a variety of construction projects across residential, commercial, and industrial sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the design process from pre-construction through to project delivery.
  • Liaise with internal teams, subcontractors, and external design consultants to coordinate technical information.
  • Review design drawings and specifications for buildability, compliance, and value engineering.
  • Chair design meetings, prepare design schedules, and maintain documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure designs meet CDM regulations and planning/building control requirements.
  • Identify and resolve design-related issues in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Design Manager within the construction industry (residential, commercial, or industrial projects).
  • Strong understanding of UK building regulations, planning policies, and construction methodologies.
  • Ability to manage multiple design packages and interface with stakeholders across disciplines.
  • Proficiency with design and document management software (AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, etc.).
  • HNC/HND/Degree in Build or Construction.
