We're looking for a talented Senior HR Consultant to lead complex HR advisory work and drive commercial performance across a regional portfolio of schools and academy trust clients. Our HR Services team is a market-leading practice and one of the most highly regarded teams serving schools and academy trust clients — consistently ranked Band One in both the Legal 500 and Chambers UK. What sets us apart is our integrated model, which brings together experienced HR professionals and specialist employment and education lawyers under one roof, creating a genuinely collegiate environment where the whole is demonstrably greater than the sum of its parts.
The role involves carrying full responsibility for leading a regional team, delivering complex and high-value HR advisory work to a portfolio of education clients, and driving commercial performance through exceptional client service, client retention, HR consultancy projects, and new business development. You will be one of four Senior HR Consultants nationally, each responsible for a defined region, and you will play an active role in the strategic development of the service.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead, manage, and develop a regional team of HR Consultants and HR Advisers (typically five to seven direct reports), providing day-to-day supervision and quality assurance of client advice, and supporting team members through coaching, mentoring, and structured development conversations.
- Deliver a solution-focused, pragmatic HR advisory service to a portfolio of education clients across the full range of complex employee relations matters — including disciplinary and grievance, capability, redundancy, TUPE, and safeguarding — leading on sensitive and high-profile casework whilst building trusted adviser relationships with senior client stakeholders.
- Drive commercial performance by leading the annual client renewal process, contributing to business development activity and pitches, and playing an active role in the strategic development of the HR Services practice — bringing ideas, insights, and energy to the continuous improvement of our products, processes, and market position.
