We are hiring! Our exceptional Advisory & Inquest team is in the market for a Senior Associate to join the firm at one of our Regional UK Offices. This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the largest teams in the country, ranked Tier 1 nationally in Chambers for this area of work. In this role, you'll undertake Inquest and Court of Protection work for a wide range of public and private sector health and social care clients.
Our specialist Advisory and Inquest Team provides expert advice to organisations across the public and independent health and care sector. The team is the national leader in mental capacity and mental health law. We have vast experience in representing public and private sector organisations in the Court of Protection and advising on issues involving the Mental Health Act 1983, the Inherent jurisdiction and care proceedings. Our team also has a national reputation for representing NHS and independent health and care organisations at inquests across the country.
We're seeking an experienced Senior Associate to manage a caseload of inquest and Court of Protection and advisory (including advocacy) matters primarily for the NHS, with opportunities to work for independent sector health and social care clients and local authorities as well. Our inquest and Court of Protection practice covers cases nationally. You'll work in a team that provides a range of high-quality legal services on complex matters.
The department also conducts a range of other health and social care advisory issues, including:
- High Court serious medical treatment cases
- Court of Protection
- Mental health
- Mental capacity
- Deprivation of liberty
- Intervenor proceedings in the Family Court
- Welfare planning disputes
- Safeguarding
- Access and funding disputes
- Continuing healthcare/Individual Funding Requests
- Information governance/DPA/FOI
- Judicial review
- Human Rights Act claims
Experience in any of these additional areas, whilst not essential, would be an advantage and there will be opportunities for successful candidates to develop these areas of work as well.
