We're looking for a talented Associate or Senior Associate to join our specialist Advisory and Inquest team, ranked Tier 1 nationally in Chambers for this area of work.

The role

You’ll take the lead on a varied and challenging caseload, with inquests at its heart. You’ll manage a caseload of inquests with an opportunity to also act on Court of Protection and advisory (including advocacy) matters primarily for the NHS, with opportunities to work for independent sector health and social care clients and local authorities as well.

What you'll be doing

• Leading on coronial investigations and inquests from instruction through to conclusion, including advocacy at Article 2 and jury inquests.
• Advising NHS trusts and independent healthcare providers on inquest preparation and pre-inquest reviews.

What we're looking for

• Strong advocacy and case management skills gained in an inquest, Court of Protection or other relevant setting, preferably in respect of inquests/Court of Protection.
• Experience in health and social care advisory matters would be an advantage – including, but not limited to, mental health, mental capacity including health and welfare applications and s21A MCA 2005 challenges
• A good understanding of the NHS and the wider health sector.
