We are hiring! Our Government, Regulatory & Advocacy team is in the market for an Associate to join them in London.
To support a team involved in a major public inquiry. You would work alongside other junior team members, partners and Counsel. Ideally you will either have worked on a public inquiry or have experience of working on large scale litigation projects.
What does the role actually involve?
- Document management including collation, redaction and disclosure
- Drafting witness statements
- Attendance at the public inquiry with Counsel
- Liaison with Inquiry legal team and other core participants to the Inquiry
- Attendance at Divisional court with Counsel to deal with judicial review matters
- Managing large scale disclosure exercises and/or working on large scale projects in litigation
- Monitoring and tracking critical dates and ensuring compliance with deadlines
- Taking clear and detailed instructions from witnesses and producing high-quality evidence in the form of witness statements
- Attending hearings and taking detailed notes for use in submissions
- Supporting witnesses in advance of giving oral evidence
- Engaging confidently and sensitively with a varied cross section of professionals including recognised legal representatives, core participants and witnesses
- Leading and managing defined areas of work/responsibility and monitoring delivery
- Supervising work delegated to other team members
- Working flexibly across work streams and maximising available resource
What technical skills are required for someone to be successful and enjoy the role?
- Be familiar in the preparation of documentation
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and work to and comply with deadlines
- A strong ability to work well as part of a team
- Good organisational skills are essential
- Familiarity with IT (Microsoft Office 2010) and with case management systems
